
Wednesday is the first night of Hanukkah. Light up your holiday with this guide to Hanukkah celebrations in and around Three Village, given in chronological order.
1. Head to Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville on Wednesday night for a 6 p.m. menorah lighting. It's a family-friendly event featuring latkes, doughnuts and entertainment to kick off the holiday.
2. Chabad of Mid-Suffolk is sponsoring a menorah lighting procession on Wednesday in Commack at 4:30 which will culminate in the lighting of an ice menorah. Read the details of the event .

3. Every night between Dec. 1 and Dec. 8, you can attend a menorah lighting in St. James at the triangle intersection of Route 25A, Moriches Road, and Lake Avenue. Start time is 5 p.m., except on Friday, when it's at 4 p.m.
4. Stony Brook University Hillel is also holding a menorah lighting for the duration of Hanukkah, starting Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Activities Center.

5. Four teams. One thousand latkes. It's a recipe for fun on Dec. 2 in the Student Union Ballroom at Stony Brook University, sponsored by Hillel.
6. Bring the family to a Shabbat Hanukkah dinner at Chabad at Stony Brook on Friday, Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m. RSVP and purchase tickets to the event here. The dinner will take place at The Shul at 23 Cornwallis Road in Setauket.
7. Another option for Friday is a 6:30 p.m. family dinner at , which will be followed by a service at 7:30 p.m., and then dessert and dreidels for the kids.
8. Students in grades six through eight can boogie down at a holiday dance party at Temple Beth Sholom of Smithtown on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
9. On Sunday, Dec. 5, will feature a zimriah songfest at 10 a.m., followed by a latke party at 11 a.m. The temple also offers this web page full of Hannukah history, blessings, readings and recipes.
10. Chabad at Stony Brook is sponsoring a menorah parade with children's entertainment on Monday, Dec. 6 at 4:30 p.m. Call 800-MY-TORAH for more information.
