STONY BROOK, NY — Stony Brook University students will have an extra week of spring break. The university is preparing for its shift to remote learning, which will involve students taking their courses and finals online for the rest of the spring 2020 semester.

Spring break was scheduled from Monday until Friday, March 20. It will now last through March 27, and classes won't resume until March 30, according to an email sent to the campus community by Michael A. Bernstein, interim president.

The extension comes "with a continued focus on mitigating the spread of COVID-19, and in final preparations for the transition to remote learning," Bernstein wrote.
