Suffolk Woman Crashed SUV Drunk With 2 Teens Inside: Cops
The 14-year-old girls were taken to Huntington Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
SETAUKET, NY — A drunken East Setauket woman crashed her SUV with two 14-year-old girls inside and has been charged under Leandra’s Law, Suffolk police said.
Alison Drain was driving a 2018 BMW X5 northbound on Old Town Road, with her daughter and her daughter’s friend inside, when she tried to turn left onto Sheep Pasture Road. The SUV crashed into a southbound 2004 Lexus RX330 around 5:30 p.m., according to police.
When police arrived, they determined Drain was intoxicated and arrested her, police said, adding that the two 14-year-old girls were taken to Huntington Hospital by family members and were treated for minor injuries.

A passenger in the Lexus was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
Drain was not injured in the crash.

Drain, 52, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger 15 years old or younger, felony driving while intoxicated and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, according to police.
Leandra's Law allows law enforcement to charge a driver with felony DWI on the first offense if they are caught with a person 15 or younger inside their vehicle. It is named for 11-year-old Leandra Rosado who was killed in a DWI crash in New York City in 2009.
She was held overnight at the 4th Precinct for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday, police said.
Her BMW was impounded for evidence, according to police.
