The Great Give Back
Emma Clark is once again participating in this Suffolk libraries initiative to provide community service opportunities for patrons.

The 3rd Annual Great Give Back Day will be held on Saturday, October 19. This is a Suffolk Cooperative Library System initiative, and the mission of the day is to provide opportunities for library patrons to participate in meaningful, service-oriented activities. Emma Clark Library is asking patrons to help support our furry friends!
There will be two special youth community service opportunities on that date. Teen volunteers (grades 7 – 12) will make cat toys for shelter cats, which will keep the cats busy while they wait for a fur-ever home. Kids in grades 5 & 6 will create dog toys. By participating in these classes, volunteers will learn the joy of giving back to others, and they will also earn community service credit. The toys will be donated to local pet shelters and animal rescue and advocacy organizations.
Teens in grades 7 – 12, to register for the Cat Toys volunteer opportunity, click here starting 9/3.
Kids in grades 5 & 6, register here starting 10/5 for the Dog Toys volunteer opportunity.

In keeping with the theme of animals, October 19 will be the official kick-off of our Pet Food Drive, which will run through the end of the month. We’ll be collecting new, unopened pet food (both canned and dry), and all are welcome to donate (residents or nonresidents) during Library hours. There will be a table located in the Library’s lobby. Teen volunteers will also help run the drive by picking up food and dropping it off at various locations.
