It's The Last Days of Jodi Shoes

Owner unsure what future holds after she closes shop Friday.

For 11 years, Jodi Shoes has peddled women's footwear in Stony Brook's Cross Roads Plaza.

In four days it will close for good.

"It's been really overwheming, closing this store," said owner Olympia Adler from the floor of her emptying shop on Tuesday.

"Business has been good these last days," she said.

In addition to the big signs plastered on the storefront advertising slashed prices ahead of the shop's Friday closing date, Adler said it's the workers who have been carrying banners along Route 347 who have attracted the most attention.

"I pay them well to stand out in the heat, but I told them to come right inside if they get too hot," she said.

While 70 percent discounts have helped empty out her inventory, Adler said she's just not sure yet if she'll open another store in the future, though it's a possibility.

Meanwhile, Adler said she thinks a spa or nail salon could take over the space left by Jodi Shoes.

"And the building already has two of those," she said.
