STONY BROOK, NY — The Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association along with two other local law enforcement agencies on Thursday purchased food from local businesses to provide some encouragement to healthcare professionals and other frontline responders at Stony Brook University Medical Center Hospital. Also taking part in the gesture was the Suffolk County Detectives Association and the Suffolk County Superior Officers Association which participated in the purchase and delivery of sandwiches, dinners and other food items to a group that police officials referred to in a news release as “hospital heroes who continue to serve on the front lines to help stem the tide” of the coronavirus pandemic on Long Island.

“The battle against this virus begins in our homes and neighborhoods and concludes in the hospital rooms,” Noel DiGerolamo, president of the Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association said in the news release. “Law enforcement, fire, EMS, and healthcare professionals are fighting to contain this deadly virus. It is great to feel the support of our fellow first responders while on duty, and just the same, we are there to support our doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff during this time of crisis. Thank you to all of our first responders and remember the men and women in blue always have your back.”
