Long Island Dog Turned On Owners Before Shot By Cop: PD
The dog attacked three people and then an officer responding to the scene, Suffolk police said.
SETAUKET, NY — An officer responding to a home on Long Island where residents were being attacked by their dog was attacked himself before shooting and killing the dog, police said Wednesday.
Suffolk police responded to a home on St. George Glen Road in Setauket at about 12:30 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a dog had been attacking three residents there, a spokeswoman said. Once there, the 6-and-a-half-year-old English bulldog attacked the officer who “shot and killed the dog,” police said.
The residents, two women and a man, as well as the officer, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of “non-life-threatening injuries,” police said. The police did not release any further details.
