New Children's Department Head

Please join us in congratulating Brian Debus, the new Children's Department Head at Emma Clark Library.

Emma Clark Library is pleased to announce that Brian Debus has been selected as the new Head Children’s Department Librarian and will officially assume his new responsibilities on March 28.

Brian has been with Emma Clark Library as a Children’s Librarian since 2004. He holds a Masters in Library Science from Long Island University and a Bachelor of Arts in Child Study from St. Joseph’s College. During graduate school, Brian also worked at the Longwood and Babylon Libraries. “Mr. Brian”, as many of our patrons know him, has been active with such programs as Minecraft and Preschool Storytime, and also coordinated all of the programming for the Summer Reading Club. In addition to his Children’s Department responsibilities, he was editor of the library’s newsletter from 2005 – 2014. Brian grew up in Three Village and now continues to make a wonderful contribution to our community.

“I look forward to this new opportunity at Emma Clark and what the future will bring,” he says.

His predecessor, Marge Bengston, announced her retirement early this year. After nearly 25 years, Marge is leaving the library at the end of March to spend more time with her family and granddaughter. Marge was pivotal during the Children’s Library expansion project in 2000. Throughout the years, Marge has put her heart and soul into her work, caring deeply for the children of the community. Her commitment and dedication to the Library and Three Village are appreciated by all.

The Board of Trustees and staff at the library are thrilled that Brian is moving into this new role and are excited to see where Brian takes the Children’s Department and Emma Clark Library in the years to come.
