Reading with Alfie or Angela

Bring your young reader to the library to practice reading to our therapy dogs.

Improve your child’s reading skills – bring them in to Emma Clark Library to read to therapy dogs, Alfie or Angela. These dogs have been trained to sit quietly and listen.

This program runs until the end of February. Alfie is available every Wednesday from 4:45 – 5:10 p.m., and Angela is available every Thursday from 4:45 – 5:15 p.m.

Register in-person or call 631.941.4080 ext. 123 and pick a specific date and time.

There are many benefits including:

  • A relaxed atmosphere
  • No pressure or judgement – dogs have a lot more patience than a human listener might when the child reads slowly or struggles with a word
  • Confidence and a boost in self-esteem for the child
  • And who doesn’t love seeing a dog in the library?!

The Emma S. Clark Memorial Library, located at 120 Main Street in Setauket and online at emmaclark.org, provides public library service to all residents of the Three Village Central School District.
