Setauket Elementary Appoints New Principal
Kathryn White, the school's assistant principal since 2009, officially begins tenure July 1.

After an extensive search in which officials evaluated several candidates, Kathryn White has been named the new principal at Setauket Elementary School.
White’s tenure will begin July 1. She replaces Robert Harrington, the school’s interim principal since December. Harrington took over for Anne Rullan, who was named the district’s executive director of curriculum and instruction during the winter.
Prior to her appointment, White had served as assistant principal at three schools, most recently at Setauket, which she joined in 2009.

“As the new principal, I look forward to working with the entire community, especially the children, to strengthen the Setauket spirit and establish our school as a leader in student achievement,” White said in a press release. “I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to lead our building into the future. I look forward to working with our teachers in planning and successfully achieving standards-based quality instruction in every classroom to ensure that students experience lessons that are intellectually challenging, rewarding, relevant, enriching and self-fulfilling.”
White gained her Bachelor of Science degree in science, letters and society from the City University of New York at Staten Island. She went on to earn her master’s in administration and supervision from Pace University.
