Sheriff's Office Leads 'Thank You' Parade At SBU Hospital: Photos
Wednesday's parade consisted of deputies, correction officers, the Stony Brook University Police Department, and the Setauket Fire Dept.

STONY BROOK, NY — A "thank you" parade in support of front-line health care workers who've battled the coronavirus outbreak was held at Stony Brook University Children’s Hospital on Wednesday. The parade, led by the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department, featured deputies, correction officers, the Stony Brook University Police Department and the Setauket Fire Department.
The parade, which included vehicles, trucks and motorcycles, drove past the facility on Lauterbur Drive. Hospital staff viewed from the front of the building and from the many windows of the floors above.
Sheriff Errol D. Toulon Jr. spoke to the crowd.

"We wanted to say thank you, because you are our heroes," he said. "You are coming to work every single day, dealing with issues that are unimaginable, and taking patients from all different areas. We want you to know that we love you, we honor you, and we thank you for everything that you do every single day."
The parade included dozens of marked and unmarked Sheriff’s Office vehicles, the Sheriff’s Office Mobile DWI Processing Unit, The MRAP (Mine Resistant, Ambush Protected) Vehicle, the Sheriff’s new START Unit, University Police units, and fire trucks from the Setauket Fire Department.
