W. Babylon Woman Charged In Fatal Stony Brook Hit-And-Run: Police
Brenda Alvarenga, 27, was the driver of a car that struck and killed Gina Paduano, 33, of Centereach, Suffolk cops say.
STONY BROOK, NY — A West Babylon woman has been charged in the hit-and-run that killed a 33-year-old woman in Stony Brook last month, Suffolk police said.
Brenda Alvarenga, 27, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, said police, adding that she was driving the car that struck and killed Gina Paduano of Centereach on March 7.
Alvarenga is expected to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.

Police said Paduano was in the westbound lanes in front of the shopping center at 2350 Route 347 when she was struck by a car and the driver drove away, heading westbound on Route 347. She was later pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, according to police.
No further details were released by police.
