Owners shared early details on menus and locations while advancing liquor license applications at a Community Board meeting.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Three new eateries from Upper East Side restaurant industry veterans are preparing to open in the neighborhood after making appearances at Community Board 8’s Street Life Committee meeting Tuesday night.

Restaurant owners and representatives joined the virtual meeting on Tuesday to advance their liquor license applications, offering an early look at what’s coming to the neighborhood’s dining scene.

The three new restaurants include Linda's at Madison located at 44 East 92nd St., Caffetteria located at 1827 Second Ave., and a yet-to-be-named tavern located at 181 East 73rd St.

All liquor license applications were approved by the Community Board subcommittee 13-0. Now, the final decision rests with the New York State Liquor Authority.

UES Tavern LLC

Jay Wainwright is planning a new full-service restaurant at 1278 Third Ave., at East 73rd Street, in the former Seamore’s space. Wainwright was the CEO of Seamore's, which has closed all its locations, according to its website.

Robert Callahan told Community Board 8 on Tuesday that the menu will range from "burgers to Lobster Thermidor," with seating for 122 guests and a 13-seat bar, mirroring the previous layout.

Wainwright, also the founder of Cosi, has listed the business as UES Tavern LLC, though the final name has not been publicised.

Linda's at Madison

The owners of the classic Italian eatery, Lex Restaurant, are opening a smaller version of the restaurant, tentatively called Linda's at Madison, a few blocks away. The new location, 44 East 92nd St. near Madison Avenue, was previously Table d’Hôte.

Under 400 square feet, the new eatery would have 10 tables and 20 chairs, with no sit-down bar, Frank Nalevaiko, the representative of the owners, said.

Caffetteria

Julian Medina, the chef and owner of Soledad on the Upper East Side, is opening a Spanish tapas restaurant called Caffetteria at 1827 Second Ave., between East 94th Street and East 95th Street.

The new spot, which was previously Enzo Bruni La Pizza Gourmet, will be directly next to his restaurant, Soledad. The new location would have 46 table seats, 10 bar seats, and six counter seats.
