Woman, 66, Hit by SUV on Upper East Side in Critical Condition: Police
A woman was struck by a vehicle on 1st Avenue near East 84th Street and brought to the hospital in critical condition.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A elderly woman was struck by a vehicle on the Upper East Side and brought to the hospital in critical condition Monday night, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.
The 66-year-old woman was walking on 1st Avenue near East 84th Street around 7:02 p.m. when she was hit by a vehicle, the NYPD spokesman said. The woman was crossing 1st Avenue when she was hit by the vehicle, which was making a left turn, police said. The driver stayed on scene after the collision and was not charged, according to the spokesman.
The woman was transported to New York Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition, the NYPD spokesman told Patch.

A photo from the scene appeared to show first responders examining the front of a gray SUV.

While responders were on the scene, northbound traffic on 1st Avenue was brought to a standstill, according to witnesses.
