UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An armed robber knocked over a luxury watch boutique Tuesday morning on the Upper East Side and made off with hundreds of thousands in merchandise, an NYPD spokesman said.
The robber entered A. Lange & Söhne on Madison Avenue between East 67th and 68th streets just before 11:30 a.m. and displayed a silver gun, police said. The man then smashed a glass display case and snatched luxury watches, police said.
The man fled the store and has not been caught, police told the Post. The stolen watches are valued at $700,000 according to a preliminary investigation, an NYPD spokesman said.

The luxury retailers of Madison Avenue are no strangers to heists.
Last year watch boutique Jaeger-LeCoultre fell victim to a similar robbery in November. As one armed robber controlled employees and guests of the Madison Avenue and East 63rd Street store, another smashed cases with a hammer and grabbed watches.
