A Café-Flower Shop Combo Is Opening On The Upper East Side

In addition to typical espresso-bar fare, the cafe also serves ceremonial-grade matcha and vegan soft-serve ice cream.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Come for the coffee, stay for the flowers.

BloomBar Café et Fleurs, the popular coffee and flower shop, is opening its first Upper East Side location this fall, with a targeted opening by the end of October.

The new café will open at 1226 Third Ave. at East 71st Street, in what used to be an urgent care facility.

The café was first launched by husband-and-wife team Heleyne and Ronnie Tamir during the pandemic as a flower shop in Oakhurst, New Jersey.

"People came for the blooms and lingered. If only we could stay all day with a coffee, they said. So we gave them a reason to," the owners wrote on their website.

Since then, BloomBar has opened three locations in New Jersey and two in Brooklyn, in Midwood and Gravesend, each of them Kosher-certified.

In addition to typical espresso-bar fare, the shop also serves specialty drinks like ceremonial-grade matcha, which it imports from Japan, with flavors like mango, blueberry and lavender.

Another unique addition to the coffee shop's menu is the flavored cold foam selection, which can be added to the top of any drink, and a selection of vegan soft-serve ice cream, as well as salads and pastries.

The café also sells floral arrangements, candles, coffee-table books, and other curated home wares.

"Each store is designed to carry you somewhere else: a little escape from the everyday, with an energy that feels warm, safe, and alive," the owners wrote.
