Body Pulled From East River Near Queensboro Bridge, Police Say

The person was pronounced dead after being taken to a helipad on East 34th Street, police said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A dead body was pulled from the East River on Friday morning, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

NYPD harbor units responded to the shores of the East River near East 61st Street and the FDR Drive around 11:45 a.m. Friday after receiving reports of a floater in the water, an NYPD spokeswoman said. The body was recovered and brought to a helipad on East 34th Street, the spokeswoman said.

The person was declared dead after being recovered from the river, an NYPD spokeswoman said. The spokeswoman cold not confirm whether the person was a man or woman or how the body ended up in the river.

The body was found just one block north of the Queensboro Bridge.
