Martha Stewart uses their olive oil in her home kitchen. Oprah loves their tomato candle.

Before Richard Christiansen created Flamingo Estate, the Los Angeles-based garden, farm and lifestyle brand that has become a phenomenon, he was already one of the fashion world’s most influential creative forces. As founder of Chandelier Creative, he has worked with some of the biggest names in fashion and luxury, including Hermes, Cartier and Khaite.

Now Christiansen joins his mentor and friend Martha Stewart, the ultimate lifestyle icon, to talk about his new book, Flamingo Estate Pleasure Principles: An Almanac from the Garden.

Filled with stories, recipes and rituals, the book is centered on living well through the “things we can make, cook, grow, notice, and do.” Hear Christiansen and Stewart talk about turning a love of home and garden into extraordinary careers, the relationship between creativity and pleasure, and the inspiration Christiansen has drawn from Stewart. “I don’t think Flamingo would exist if Martha hadn’t set the example of making a business from her home,” he says.

And hear two people who have transformed the way we think about living well explore how to find more pleasure in ordinary life, from what we cook and grow to what we notice, make and bring into our homes.
