Fire Breaks Out In UES High-Rise, FDNY Says

The fire started on the 14th floor of a luxury, 29-story high-rise on Tuesday afternoon.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A fire broke out at a 29-story high-rise on the Upper East Side on Tuesday afternoon, New York City Fire Department officials said.

According to the FDNY, the fire started on the 14th floor of The Monterey, a luxury apartment building located at 175 East 96th St., between Lexington and Third avenues, at 2:43 p.m.

No injuries have been reported so far, and 120 firefighters and medics responded to the scene.

Operations are ongoing, and the fire is close to being brought under control, FDNY officials said.
