Grandfather Clinging To Life After UES Subway Attack: Report
Richard Williams, an Air Force veteran who just celebrated his 55th wedding anniversary, is now on life support, according to reports.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An 83-year-old grandfather is fighting for his life after he and another victim were shoved by a stranger onto Upper East Side train tracks this week, his family told the New York Daily News.
Richard Williams, an Air Force veteran who just celebrated his 55th wedding anniversary, is now on life support and hasn't been able to speak since the attack, the New York Daily News reported.
According to the NYPD, the suspect first pushed a 30-year-old and then Williams onto the tracks on the Southbound F and Q line on Sunday at approximately 11:30 a.m., at the Lexington Avenue-63 Street subway station.

Then, the suspect left the station and ran away, police said.
Medics rushed both men to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where the 30-year-old was listed in stable condition, and the 83-year-old was listed in critical condition, officials said.

On Tuesday, police officials said 34-year-old Brooklynite Bairon Hernandez was arrested and charged with attempted murder, attempted assault, assault, and reckless endangerment. He was charged on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
"We’re just going to stay by his bed," Debbie Williams, the victim's eldest of three daughters, said to the New York Daily News. "We’re sitting here with him. We’re praying for him and we love him and we’re going to stay with him."
