Italian Furniture Store Calligaris To Open Upper East Side Showroom
The Italian-made furniture brand will open its second New York City store on East 57th Street.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A husband and wife business team is bringing New York's second standalone Calligaris furniture showroom to the Upper East Side.
Niki and Shaokao Cheng will open Calligaris Upper East Side — located on East 57th Street between Third and Second avenues — on August 1, according to a press release. The store will feature Calligaris' signature Italian-made furniture designs and will be the brand's second store opening in Manhattan this year.
The Cheng's decided to open on the Upper East Side for its "intersection of historic residential buildings and modern luxury shops," which made the neighborhood "the next logical step for the Chengs’ planned expansion of the Calligaris brand," according to a press release.

“This space mirrors typical apartments on the Upper East Side — with pre-war ceiling heights and intimate vignettes showcasing designs the way they would look at home,” Shaokao Cheng said in a statement.
The showroom will be 4,500 square feet large.

One of the main selling points for Calligaris' furniture is that it can be customized to fit any style or space, Niki Cheng said in a statement.
“Calligaris designs are chic, modern, flexible and functional. The furniture works like Lego," Niki Cheng said in a statement. "Sofas can be combined with different seats, covers, and legs while chairs, tables and beds can be assembled in countless ways to add uniqueness to any design."
