Man Arrested in Connection With Attack on 85-Year-Old Man in Carl Schurz Park: NYPD

The attack occurred earlier this week and left the elderly man with lacerations to the back of his head and his eye.

UPPER EAST SIDE, MANHATTAN, NY — A man has been arrested in connection with an attack on an elderly man in Carl Schurz Park that took place earlier this week, according to the NYPD.

Edwin Suazo, 35, of New York was arrested Sunday and is now facing two counts of assault.

The victim, 85, was taking a stroll through the park Tuesday around 3 p.m. when an unidentified man approached him from behind, police said. Without warning, the man punched the 85-year-old in the side of the head, knocking him to the ground, police told Patch.

The victim suffered lacerations to the back of his head and his eye, and was treated at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
