Man Hit And Killed By Train On Upper East Side, Police Say

A 48-year-old man died after being struck by a train Thursday night.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man died after being hit by a train Thursday night in an Upper East Side subway station, an NYPD spokeswoman told Patch.

A 48-year-old man was struck by a southbound 6 train within the Lexington Avenue and East 77th Street station around 6:30 p.m., police said. The man's body was recovered from under the train and he was pronounced dead at the scene, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

How the man — who has not been identified — ended up on the tracks is currently unknown but no criminality is suspected, an NYPD spokeswoman told Patch. The NYPD investigation into the death is still ongoing, police said.
