Memorial Sloan Kettering To Expand On Upper East Side

The hospital will lease a brand-new medical facility on East 62nd Street near the Queensboro Bridge, according to real estate records.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is expanding into a brand-new medical facility on the Upper East Side, according to real estate documents filed with the city.

The hospital has agreed to a 30-year lease with an entity named YYY 62nd Street LLC for a property located at 330 E. 62nd St. near the Queenboro Bridge off-ramp, according to public real estate documents. Under the terms of the lease Memorial Sloan Kettering will be able to extend the lease by two 10-year periods.

The records, dated Aug. 11 of this year, indicate that the value of the leave is just shy of $86 million.

The lease also contains a provision under which Memorial Sloan Kettering could decide to purchase the building from its landlord, according to the public documents.

In 2014, developer YYY 62nd Street LLC filed plans to construct a 69,647-square-foot hospital on the land, according to building plans. The entirety of the development is zoned for community facility use, and the seven-story building will top out at 75-feet-tall, according to the plans.

The new building will be designed by the firm Karl Fischer Architects, according to the building plans.
