Nordstrom To Open New UES Location
The Nordstrom "neighborhood service hub" will offer online order pick-up, alterations, tailoring and styling.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Retail giant Nordstrom will open a new location on the Upper East Side as part of the New York City rollout of the company's new local market strategy, company officials announced this week.
The Nordstrom "neighborhood service center" will open its doors in fall 2019 at 1273 Third Ave. between East 73rd and 74th streets and will compliment a new full-size department store opening near Columbus Circle. The Upper East Side location won't offer as large a selection of goods, but will offer customers services such as online order pick-up, alterations, tailoring and styling.
The "Nordstrom Local" concept was first launched in Los Angeles in 2017.

"The expansion of our local market strategy in New York City is a cornerstone of how we will improve service to our customers. NYC represents our largest online market and we know when we open physical stores it complements our online presence and increases sales," Jamie Nordstrom, president of stores, said in a statement.
Nordstrom's Upper East Side location will feature "flexible models and floor plans" so the company can adapt to the needs of local customers. After launching the concept in Los Angeles, neighborhood "service hubs" now account for 30 percent of the company's online pickups. The stores also generally cater to a younger customer base, Nordstrom executives said.
