Oil Truck Dumps 55 Gallons Of Fuel On UES, FDNY Says
HAZMAT crews have been working for hours to clean up the fuel spill near Second Avenue and East 61st Street.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — More than 50 gallons of fuel were spilled Wednesday morning at an Upper East Side intersection after an oil truck was involved in a collision, an FDNY spokesman said.
The truck crashed near the intersection of Second Avenue and East 61st Street at about 4:30 a.m., causing one of its tanks to rupture, an FDNY spokesman said. An estimated 55 gallons of fuel were dumped in the area, prompting HAZMAT crews to be called to the scene.
The cleanup was still active around 8 a.m. and could continue for much of the day, an FDNY spokesman said.

Nobody was injured during the oil spill or the crash, the spokesman said.
