UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A duplex co-op apartment on the Upper East Side just sold for an eye-popping $38,000,000 on Thursday, according to city records.

The duplex, located at 740 Park Ave., between East 71st and 72nd streets, was purchased by the seller back in 2019 for $20,500,000, according to the New York City Department of Finance's Office of the City Register.

Apartment 4/5 D features approximately 7,500 square feet of interior space, according to a Street Easy listing dating to 2018.

At the time of the listing, the palatial apartment had five bedrooms, five bathrooms, one powder room, an eat-in kitchen, a dining room, and several wood-burning fireplaces, according to the listing.

The building at 740 Park Ave. was designed by Rosario Candela back in 1929 and has been home to many of the nation's wealthiest individuals.

This list of residents includes Jackie Kennedy Onassis, John D. Rockefeller Jr., David Koch, Blackstone founder Stephen Schwarzman, former Trump Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, Charles Dyson and cosmetics kingpin Ronald Lauder.

The identities of the buyer and the seller are hidden by shell companies.
