UES Hospital Workers Treated To Hot Dog Lunch By Jean-Georges

Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten gave the 400 fancy franks to Lenox Hill Hospital workers at lunchtime Wednesday as a gesture of gratitude.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Hospital workers on the front line of the pandemic got some tasty relief on Wednesday, courtesy of the celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

Staff at Lenox Hill hospital were treated to 400 "gourmet hot dogs" served to them personally by Vongerichten, whose upscale restaurant at The Mark hotel sits just two blocks west of the medical center.

The fancy franks were given away at noon Wednesday from The Mark's "haute hot dog cart" outside the East 77th Street hospital.

The Mark, whose staff has regularly joined the evening claps in honor of the city's medical workers, intended the hot dogs as a gesture of appreciation — seeking to "warm the hearts and fill the stomachs" of Lenox Hill employees, a news release read.
