UES Sushi Spot Named One of NYC's Best New Restaurants

Outdoor At Noz offers a much more reasonable dining option that the space's namesake, Sushi Noz, which is regarded as a top sushi spot.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY – An Upper East Side Japanese restaurant that was already one of New York’s top sushi spots is now being offered at a more reasonable price in a new setting that is being deemed one of the city’s 21 new eateries.

Outdoors At Noz, which opened in late June, was chosen as one of the best new places to eat in the city by the editors of Time Out New York, who published their list on Monday. While Sushi Noz is known for an indoor space that transports diners to a completely new place and that offers a $395 tasting menu, the new outdoor space is much more affordable.

Outdoors at Noz’s has a four-course prix fixe which offers an assortment of sashimi, a choice of wide-roll futomaki and temaki handrolls, plus ice cream flavors like ginger, matcha or furikake for dessert. The price lands at a respectable $75, which considering the difference in price from Sushi Noz’s pricier retail sibling, makes for an easier to digest price.

Here’s what the editors at Time Out New York had to say about Sushi Noz, which they had previously recognized among New York City's top sushi options. The restaurant is located at 181 E. 78th St.

“It's difficult to impress as a sushi restaurant in a city full of competitors luring in customers with fresh seafood. But at this Upper East Side restaurant, the $300-a-person, edomae-style sushi joint is one of the priciest in the city that actually backs up its hefty price tag. But the Michelin star and ancient aging techniques from chef Abe Nozomu makes the wallet-gouging bill worth it.”
