Upper East Side Avenue Reopens After Suspicious Package Shutdown
Fifth Avenue was shut down for multiple blocks near the Met Museum on Thursday as authorities responded to a suspicious package.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Multiple blocks of Fifth Avenue were shut down for around two hours Thursday morning as police investigated a suspicious package, according to the NYPD.

The two-block stretch runs directly north of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which stands between East 80th and East 84th streets. During the closure, the precinct advised neighbors to expect emergency vehicles and traffic in the area.
Once the shutdown had ended, police said residual delays were likely on nearby streets.
