Woman, 65, Punched On East Side Train, Police Say

MIDTOWN EAST, NY — Police were searching Thursday for a suspect after a 65-year-old woman was punched in the face on an East Side subway, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, the victim was on a downtown-bound E train pulling into the 53rd Street and Lexington Avenue station around 9 a.m. on Tuesday when the assault happened.

The victim engaged in an argument with the suspect, and then the suspect punched her in the face before getting off the train and leaving the scene, police said.

The victim suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

Police have not made any arrests yet, but have released a surveillance photo of the suspect, who they said is a woman, last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and black-and-white sneakers.
