Arrest Made In Unprovoked Stabbing At 72nd Street Train Station
Police arrested a suspect accused of randomly attacking a woman last week at a Metro Card machine at the 72nd Street train station.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Police on Tuesday arrested a man who they say randomly stabbed a woman last week with a long knife at the Upper West Side 1, 2, 3 subway station on 72nd and Broadway.
The woman was buying a Metro Card when the man attacked from behind and stabbed her in the shoulder, according to police. The attack was random and unprovoked.
The woman was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

"This suspect was apprehended today by eagle-eyed officers from NYPD Transit District 1 who spotted this suspect while on patrol in Manhattan," according to the NYPD News Twitter account.
Police previously released a frightening video of the suspect wielding a knife right before the assault.

The 40-year-old man was arrested around 1 p.m. Tuesday and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon, a NYPD spokesperson told the NY Post.
