2nd Woman In 4 Days Attacked At 72nd Street Station: Police

It's the second time since Thursday a woman got randomly attacked within the 72nd Street train station.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man "struck" a 27-year-old woman on her back Sunday night at the Upper West Side 1, 2, 3, subway station on 72nd and Broadway, the NYPD said.

The woman was standing on the northbound platform when the man struck her from behind, before fleeing the scene, according to a police spokesperson.

The attack was random and unprovoked, police said.

The attack caused a bruise on the woman's back, but she wasn't hospitalized for the incident, according to a police spokesperson.

The man fled on the southbound train but was later apprehended and arrested for assault and harassment.

The individual was identified as a 38-year-old male from The Bronx.

The attack on Sunday came four days after a woman got randomly stabbed with a "long knife" buying a Metro Card at the same 72nd Street Station.

Police are still searching for the man from Thursday's attack, but confirmed it was not the man arrested for Sunday's assault.
