UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Single migrants were booted from the Upper West Side's Stratford Arms Hotel Wednesday and forced to relocate in an effort by the city to keep families together, according to a report in The New York Post.

The asylum seekers were sent to Randall’s Island group facility and other locations, such as Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, according to the outlet.

The Randall’s Island shelter, which opened last month, will house as many as 3,000 people in tents, the Post reported. The move came just before six busses of migrants were expected to arrive from Texas.

"With the 100,000 people coming to the city, there are no good solutions and so what we would like to do is prioritize families with children," Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services Anne Williams-Isom told the Post. "And so in those places where there are single adults were doubled or tripled up in hotel rooms or scientific businesses that we want to move them into congregate settings ... We’re trying to do the best that we can to free up space and hotel rooms so that we can have more space for them. So it’s a dire situation."
