• $2M for youth programs in Utica (uticaod.com) — More than $2 million in Project RISE funding is headed directly to Utica youth programs, including a major boost for Utica Royalties on Broadway. The money is paying for things like a new transportation van, expanded classes, and other services aimed at youth development, mental health, and violence prevention, all as part of a broader state effort backed by Gov. Kathy Hochul.
• Breaking It Down with Ben: Meet Comets' Forward, Ben Steeves (uticacomets.com) — Utica Comets fans are getting to know new forward Ben Steeves, a high-scoring winger acquired in a trade from Charlotte. The 24-year-old New Hampshire native talks about his path through college and pro hockey, his family's strong hockey ties, and his excitement to join the New Jersey Devils organization and play in Utica this season.
• Utica man gets two years for Ulster County drug crimes (cnyhomepage.com) — A Utica man has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for his role in a cocaine trafficking ring centered in Kingston and Ulster County. Federal investigators say he was part of a larger network moving significant quantities of cocaine and crack. Several co-defendants have already been sentenced or still face substantial mandatory minimum prison terms.
