(medscape.com subscription) — A New York Medical College student based in Valhalla helped lead a large study suggesting the common drug gabapentin might be linked to better cognitive outcomes after mild traumatic brain injury and lower mortality after severe cases. Researchers stress the findings are preliminary and don’t justify changing treatment yet, but say the results are strong enough to warrant a randomized clinical trial. 
• Stamford man caught in NY after South End shooting, police say (nhregister.com) — Westchester County Jail in Valhalla is briefly mentioned as the New York facility where a Stamford shooting suspect was held before being extradited back to Connecticut. The case involves a February South End incident with no reported injuries, a multistate vehicle search, and firearm charges, with the suspect now facing court proceedings.
