📰 News we're reading

1. With Eastview Mall in foreclosure, a battle is brewing between owner, lenders (rbj.net) — Eastview Mall's foreclosure has pushed Victor officials to pursue an eminent domain plan they say is crucial to protecting roughly 4,000 jobs and about 20% of the town's tax revenue. The town is weighing a complex deal with mall owner Wilmorite to seize and resell key parcels, while major lenders argue the move is a debt-avoidance scheme likely headed for court.

2. Repeat Victor Shoplifter Gets Two-Year State Prison Sentence (fingerlakesdailynews.com) — A 35-year-old woman has been sentenced to two years in state prison for two separate thefts from the TJ Maxx on Square Drive in Victor, after previously being banned from the chain's stores. Ontario County prosecutors say she stole more than $1,000 in merchandise in November 2025 before pleading guilty to felony grand larceny.

3. State Police: 8 brought to hospital after 4-car crash on Thruway in Farmington (whec.com) — A four-car crash on the Thruway near the Canandaigua/Victor exit sent eight people to the hospital, including one in critical condition, after a chain reaction collision Tuesday night. State Police say speed appears to have been a factor and have issued tickets to a New Jersey driver as they continue investigating.

4. Teen accused of stealing vehicles from Farmington homes, dirt bike from Victor property (13wham.com) — An 18-year-old from Irondequoit is accused of stealing three vehicles from Farmington homes and a dirt bike from a Victor property, leading to burglary and grand larceny charges. He's being held in Ontario County Jail on bail as multiple police agencies continue an investigation that may bring additional arrests.
