+++ Memorial Daze +++
The solemn tone of the day conveys the mournfulness of many for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for people they no longer have the opportunity to meet. These fractured hearts will carry on in a manner that will attempt to conceal the agony and candy- coat it so as not to burden or depress anyone who may cross their path. Then there are those who will attend parties and joyful gatherings where all is well as the world transitions and suggests attunement with the arrival of summertime and the vast cornucopia of anticipated amusement, entertainment, and pleasure. With such a vast breadth of emotions and intentions, Memorial Day resembles a true enigma. The confusion can mess with the psyche, and trample the blatant truth of the situation. Where severe suffering and discourse numb and erode the spirit, there is little peace even though carefree playfulness tickles another soul around the corner. Which one characterizes your day? The answer should be both. We must each accept and internalize the loss of the many who passed from the earth in a swift motion. Give them all thanks, pray for their souls, and count your blessings. A little woe and somber reflection go a long way. Life, however, should be a celebration, which demonstrates our gratitude and respect for the mighty deeds of the precious souls who marched for us. Jesus lit the way for them from the barracks to the fields to His loving arms. Let the complex nature of the day dissolve from your being. There is nothing to be dazed about. It is a day to memorialize, pay homage, and look to the future that would not be ours if so many had not fallen. This is our gift. We are their legacy. Make them proud.
John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life."
