75 Firefighters Rushed To Pre-Dawn Fire In Almost 2 Hour Firefighting Effort, NCFM Says
Firefighters were called to a Seaford Harbor home at 5:14 a.m. Friday to battle a fire that put three people out of their home.
SEAFORD, NY — An early morning fire in Seaford drew the response of 75 firefighters and required a one-hour, 45-minute firefighting effort Friday before it could be put out, fire officials said.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office said the Wantagh Fire Department was first on the scene to the fire, being dispatched at 5:14 a.m. to the three-story home on Peconic Avenue in Seaford Harbor. Upon arrival, fire officials said firefighters saw heavy fire and began operations to both protect the other homes in the neighborhood and extinguish the initial fire. With help from Bellmore, Massapequa, Merrick, North Bellmore and Seaford fire departments, a force of about 75 firefighters was able to put out the fire after about an hour and 45 minutes of firefighting work, officials said.
In the aftermath of the blaze, fire officials say no injuries were reported but three occupants of the home where the fire broke out were displaced. Those residents, officials said, have been offered red cross assistance as they look to relocate.
