Everyone loves a parade, especially if they know its route.
On Saturday evening I attended a movie in Bellmore. I heeded the only signs which I saw, which advised me not to park in the LIRR lot directly adjacent to the Railroad’s ticket office. When I emerged from the theater 90 minutes later I found that Pettit Avenue and Bellmore Avenue had been closed to traffic and that the parking lot in which I had parked was now closed. Fortunately one of the police officers was kind enough to let me out and onto Sunrise Highway, although not in the direction in which I wanted to proceed.
Perhaps next year the people who stage the Bellmore Fire Department Carnival and parade can endeavor to do a better job of letting the public know exactly what’s going to happen vis-à-vis street closures.
