Body Found Floating Near Jones Beach: Police

The victim's boat was recovered a short distance from his body on Sunday morning, police said.

WANTAGH, NY — A body was discovered on Sunday morning at the west end area of Jones Beach, police said.

A 58-year-old male victim was pulled out of the water by Nassau County Police Marine Bureau officers at approximately 6:15 a.m.

Unconscious and not breathing, a police medic pronounced the victim dead at the scene, detectives said.

A 25-foot boat belonging to the victim was recovered three-quarters of a mile east of his body.

An investigation is continuing.
