Coastal Flood Advisory in Effect Thursday

Basement flooding is a possibility for shore roads, but property damage is not expected, according to the NWS.

A coastal flood advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

This affects low lying areas along the Atlantic Ocean and south shore bays of Queens, Brooklyn and Nassau County. Tidal departures are around 1 1/2 feet above astronomical tides.

Flooding on the most vulnerable shore roads is possible, although impact on property is expected to be minimal.

"If heavy rain coincides with the time of high tide, then basement flooding could occur," the National Weather Service said.
