Cops: Man Wanted in 8 Bank Robberies

Man robbed banks in West Hempstead, Carle Place, Merrick, Bethpage, Farmingdale, and Baldwin Harbor, cops said.

Nassau County Police are searching for a man they say committed eight bank robberies in the area.

In each incident, the subject approached bank tellers and presented a non-violent demand note for cash, cops said. He obtained unknown amounts of cash before fleeing the scene each time, police said.

May 5: Chase Bank, 565 Hempstead Turnpike, West Hempstead
May 30: Chase Bank, 400 Old Country Road, Carle Place
June 9: Chase Bank, 2122 Merrick Avenue, Merrick
June 25: Chase Bank, 565 Hempstead Turnpike, West Hempstead
July 2: Chase Bank, 4276 Hempstead Turnpike, Bethpage
July 11: Capital One Bank, 2192 Merrick Road, Merrick
July 18: Chase Bank, 334 Main Street, Farmingdale
July 23: Bank of America, 792 Atlantic Avenue, Baldwin Harbor

The subject is described as a black man in his late 30s to early 40s with a medium-dark complexion, 5-foot-9 to six feet tall, and has a medium build. He has been seen wearing large bucket-style hats, baseball hats, and wigs.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
