Corrections Officer Recruit Sold Cocaine to Undercover Detective: Police

BREAKING: The 24-year-old was arrested on Saturday, police say.

A 24-year-old New York City corrections officer recruit sold cocaine to an undercover detective in Massapequa, Nassau Police said.

Rushauney R. Stephenson, of West Babylon, was arrested Friday evening at the New York City Correctional Academy, which is located at John Jay College in Manhattan.

According to police, Stephenson possessed and sold a quantity of cocaine to an undercover detective for an agreed amount of money at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 21.

Police did not say why Stephenson was arrested a week later.

Stephenson is charged with two counts of third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead and his bail was set at $50,000. He is due back in court on Tuesday.
