I was looking at pictures of my old Wantagh address on Google Maps. How things have changed!
When we moved into the formerly "model house" of the new development on Fir, Pine and Maple Streets, all the houses looked the same exceptfor4 a few older homes. Our house was set back from the St., and there was a small woods on each side and in back of the house.
The main shopping area was on Sunrise. I see that the clock on top at Sunrise and Wantagh Ave is still there, where it was on top of Whelen's Drugs. The was a little Island along Sunrise to provide some parking in front of the stores. The major stores were Bohack, Steven's Shoe repair and sales, Wantagh 5&10, El Dorato, and two or three other stores I don't remember. There was no Cherrywood or King Kullens. No stores on the north side of Park Ave.
I look at all the stores that are there today - how different things are.
