Dogs Rescued From 'Unsanitary Conditions' Up For Adoption
The 15 dogs were rescued from a Nassau County home last week.

The 15 dogs that were recently rescued from "unsanitary living conditions" at a Merrick home are now up for adoption at the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter.
The Nassau County SPCA and Nassau Police investigated complaints of animal cruelty at an Aster Avenue home which led to the arrest of 36-year-old Yvette Seibert on Tuesday.
She was found to have the dogs and two children living in her home in "unsanitary living conditions," police said.

The dogs were taken to the Wantagh shelter and have since received intensive care by officers, shelter volunteers, employees and a veterinarian.
“I am pleased that the dogs appear to be in good health,” Hempstead Town Councilman Anthony D’Esposito. “They deserve to be placed in loving homes, and we are committed to that goal."

The group consists of nine male dogs and six female dogs all believed to be between 6 months to 5 years old. There are 10 schnauzers, four Jack Russell terriers and one chihuahua all appearing to be healthy. They all weigh around 10 pounds.
Currently all pet adoptions are free as part of the town's "Summer of Love" pet adoption program.
“These 15 dogs are reported to have lived in less than ideal conditions, but we are proud to welcome them into the safety of our Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter,” Town Supervisor Anthoney J. Santino said. “We encourage residents to find it in their hearts to visit the shelter and give these wonderful dogs the loving homes they deserve.”
