Driver Killed After Car Goes Airborne, Crashes Into Other Vehicle on Southern State
The accident occurred Friday night, police say.

One person was killed in a two-car crash on the Southern State Parkway in Wantagh Friday night.
According to State Police, a 2001 Honda Accord was traveling east on the parkway between the Wantagh State Parkway and Wantagh Avenue-exits 27 and 28–when the driver lost control of the car around 10:50 p.m.
The Honda crossed all of the eastbound lanes and collided with the center median metal divider, which sent the Honda airborne into the westbound lanes of travel, where it collided with a 2001 Nissan Maxima, police said.

The driver of the Honda, who police have not identified, was pronounced dead at Nassau University Medical Center, police said. All of the occupants of the Nissan suffered minor injuries. Police did not specify how many people were in the Nissan.
State Police are asking anyone with any information on the crash to contact Troop L Headquarters in Farmingdale at 631-756-3300.
