Election 2011: 14th Legislative District (VIDEOS)

Incumbent legislator Joseph Belesi is challenged by Eva Pearson.

The race for the 14th Legislative District seat will feature Nassau County Legis. Joseph Belesi, R-Farmingdale, against challenger Eva Pearson.

The 14th L.D. covers parts of Seaford, North Wantagh, Levittown, East Massapequa, North Massapequa, Old Bethpage, Bethpage, Plainedge, Farmingdale and South Farmingdale.

Belesi, who has been a Farmingdale resident for 39 years, was elected in 2009. He is the recipient of the Purple Heart for his service to the United States Army during the Vietnam War and he was the first Nassau County Police Officer to be elected to the legislature. He served as an officer and later as a supervisor for the Nassau County Police Department for more than 32 years.

Pearson, who was raised in Nassau County and now lives in Farmingdale, served in the U.S. Air Force during the first Gulf War. She currently works at the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center in New York City, where she counsels children in foster care.
