Please join with the Wantagh Chamber of Commerce and Long Island Planning Council at 9:30 on the morning of September 11th, as we gather at Heroes’ Walk, located on Park Avenue, to the west of the Wantagh Parkway overpass to rededicate this memorial site and unveil the revised sign with the names of the victims associated with Wantagh. Those gathered will then process east along Park Avenue (which will be closed to vehicular traffic) to American Legion Post #1273, located at 3484 Park Avenue, next to the firehouse, accompanied by the American Legion’s pipe and drum band, which lost one of its members in the attacks. At 10:00 am, the American Legion Post will hold a memorial service for the victims, as they have done each year since 2002.
