Fire Completely Destroys Wantagh Home

Dozens of firefighters fought the blaze for hours before getting it under control.

A massive fire engulfed a home in Wantagh early in the morning on Thursday, needing dozens of fire fighters to get the blaze under control.

The fire broke out just before 5:30 a.m. at a home on Mandaly Beach Road, according to reports. According to News 12, David Maloney, 22, was woken up by a painter working in the house when the fire broke out. Maloney got his 15-year-old brother and the two made it out of the house safely, as did the painter.

According to Newsday, it took nearly three hours to get the fire under control. The heat from the fire also melted siding on neighboring houses.

No one was injured during the blaze, and it is not deemed suspicious.
